Trans Montserrat
The transport package from Barcelona: metro, train, your choice of Cremallera or Aeri, both mountain funiculars and the basilica. Does not include the museum.
From €50
See Trans Montserrat →The on-site ticket sold directly by the monastery itself: a guaranteed time slot for the Throne of the Black Madonna, the Museum of Montserrat, the audiovisual exhibition and an audio guide in eight languages. For travellers who are arriving on their own and want to skip the transport package.
A single voucher gives you the complete on-site cultural visit — the basilica with the Black Madonna, the museum, the exhibition and an audio guide in your own language. Transport to the mountain is not included; this ticket is for travellers who are getting there on their own.
Direct entry to the basilica with a pre-booked time slot at the Throne of the Madonna — no queueing, even at peak times.
Entry to the museum with 1,300 works including Picasso, Caravaggio, Monet, El Greco, Dalí, Tàpies and Miró. One of Catalonia's most important art collections.
Entry to "Montserrat Portes Endins" — the multimedia exhibition on the history of the mountain and the monastery.
A full audio guide for the basilica and the Black Madonna in English, German, French, Spanish, Catalan, Dutch, Japanese and Russian.
A printed map of the monastery complex to help you plan the rest of the day on the mountain.
A printed brochure with background on the basilica, the Black Madonna and the museum collections.
The Monastery Ticket is the simplest one we sell. It's the on-site visit, nothing more — perfect for travellers who already have a way to get up the mountain. If you need transport from Barcelona, pick Trans, Tot or Mountain Ticket instead.
Pick your visit date and your time slot for the Throne of the Madonna during checkout. Your voucher arrives by email straight away.
This ticket does not include transport. Drive up, take a tour bus, use the FGC R5 + Cremallera or Aeri separately, or join one of the guided day trips from Barcelona. See the related tickets below if you'd like a combined package.
Go to the Tourist Information at the top of the mountain — it's right at the entrance to the sanctuary square. Show your voucher and you'll receive printed tickets for the basilica, the museum and your audio guide.
Visit the basilica at your time slot, see the museum, watch the Portes Endins exhibition, and listen to the audio guide in your own language. Return your audio guide when you leave.
One sample itinerary for travellers using the Monastery Ticket — a focused cultural visit, between three and four hours on the mountain.
Reserve now, pay later. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
Excellent way to skip the queue at the Throne of the Madonna. The audio guide in German was clear and well-paced, and the museum was a real highlight. A focused cultural visit without the transport hassle.
We drove up ourselves and just wanted the on-site visit — this was exactly the right ticket. Quick pickup at the Tourist Information, the audio guide was easy to use, and the museum was surprisingly good.
Worth it for the time slot at the Madonna alone. The lines were long at peak time, but we walked straight in. The audiovisual exhibition gave us great background before going into the basilica.
No. The Monastery Ticket is for the on-site visit only. You need to arrive at the mountain on your own — by car, by tour bus, or by buying a separate train + Cremallera or Aeri ticket. If you want transport included, choose Trans Montserrat, Tot Montserrat or the Mountain Ticket instead.
At the Tourist Information at the top of the mountain, right at the entrance to the sanctuary square. Not in Barcelona. Show your voucher and you'll receive printed tickets for the basilica and the museum, plus your audio guide.
You pick your entry time for the Throne of the Black Madonna during checkout. Show up at that time and you skip the line — instead of waiting 20 to 40 minutes at peak hours, you walk straight to the Throne. The Throne is closed between 10:30 AM and 12:00 noon, so choose a slot before or after that window.
The audio guide is available in English, German, French, Spanish, Catalan, Dutch, Japanese and Russian — eight languages in total. It covers the basilica and the Throne of the Black Madonna.
The boys' choir (Escolania) is free to attend in the basilica — you don't need a separate ticket. They usually sing Monday to Friday at 1:00 PM and Sunday at noon. There is no performance on Saturday. If you want guaranteed seating, there's a separate Choir Ticket sold by the monastery.
Plan for three to four hours on the mountain — enough for the basilica, the time slot at the Throne, the audiovisual exhibition and the museum at a relaxed pace. Add another hour or two if you want to walk to one of the viewpoints.
