Frequently asked questions about Montserrat tickets
Trans Montserrat is a transport ticket. It covers the complete journey from Barcelona: metro, train, cog railway or cable car and both mountain funiculars. Tot Montserrat includes everything from Trans, plus entry to the Museum of Montserrat and a lunch buffet at the monastery restaurant.
The Mountain Ticket combines the train ride from Barcelona with the cog railway, the museum, an audio guide in 8 languages, a pre-booked time slot for the Throne of the Black Madonna and a liqueur tasting. It does not include the metro or a cable car option.
The Cremallera carries you up the mountain comfortably with seats in 15 minutes — ideal if you fear heights or are travelling with kids. The Aeri is an open cable car with standing room and spectacular panoramic views, with a ride time of only 5 minutes. You make your choice when you pick up your tickets at the Tourist Information in Barcelona — at that point it is final, so know what you want before you arrive.
It depends on the ticket. For Trans and Tot Montserrat (via GetYourGuide) you go to the Tourist Information at Plaça de Catalunya. For the Mountain Ticket you go to the FGC counter at Plaça Espanya station. For the Museum Ticket you start directly at the info point on top. Exact instructions are on your voucher.
The boys' choir usually sings Monday to Friday at 1:00 PM and Sunday at 12:00 PM. There is no performance on Saturdays. During school holidays and on special feast days the choir may pause. Only the Escolania Ticket guarantees access to the choir performance.
Yes, most tickets are free to cancel up to 24 hours before the booked time. The Aeri cable car ticket is the exception — it is non-refundable.
All tickets with transport use the FGC R5 line from Plaça Espanya towards Manresa. For the Cremallera you get off at Monistrol de Montserrat, for the Aeri one stop earlier at Aeri de Montserrat. Do not get off at Olesa de Montserrat — that is a different line.
With Trans Montserrat and Tot Montserrat the metro is included. With the Mountain Ticket, Museum Ticket and the add-on tickets the metro is not included. You'll then need a separate metro ticket or a T-casual card to get to Plaça Espanya.
